INDEX TO ALMERIAN RAILWAY AND MINING HISTORY
This year (2012) I have started to tackle the Almeria - Linares line and the mining activities associated with it. As an aid to locating specific aspects of this railway, the following table describes what is on each page. Click on the title to go to that page. The History and Three Phase pages are fairly complete but the rest are still under construction (although there are some pictures) and will be extended as I have time to do the research. - This history is taken from the book A Todo Tren published by the Friends of Almerian Railways (ASAFAL). This is an extensive page and includes items relating to the topics below. There are many pictures of engines from the past.There is also some information about the future of the high-speed line to Murcia.

- The Almeria to Linares line had to negotiate some extreme terrain. To overcome the steep gradients, some unusual electric engines (the first in Spain) were purchased. This page describes how they worked.
